Solve the problem of not installing software in Windows 10

The user often seeks to diligently search for a specific program to use for a purpose, to face a difficult problem after finding the program, namely, the inability to install the software on the operating system used, especially Windows 10! It's frustrating and sad after all the search efforts to find the app, but don't worry if it happens to you because we're going to discuss the reasons behind it and some ways to fix it without long after this introductory introduction.

Solution 1: Restart your computer

One of the simple, intuitive, and common solutions and steps in trying to solve a problem on computers for troubleshooting is to restart your computer but it's important for some reason, the reason why the software isn't installed on your computer may be caused by a temporary system malfunction, so before you go to more focused fixes you have to restart to get back to a clean state.

Solution 2: Check the settings of the app installer

Windows 10 lets you install traditional software and desktop applications from the Microsoft Store, so check the app installer settings that may only be activated to install app store apps and not allow external sources to install, so checking them before proceeding is desirable.

To do this go to settings and then apps - Apps to access apps and features - Apps & features, at the top you will see the section choose where to get the apps, if the drop-down menu is set on the Microsoft Store only you will not be able to install applications from anywhere else and you have to replace them anywhere.

You should also check a setting similar to what we did in the previous step, but this time within update & security settings for developers - Update & Security, to make sure here you select Sideload apps within the developer's features, because choosing Microsoft Store apps will prevent you from installing regular software from outside the Store.

Third solution: Free disk space

If your disk space is too low, you may not be able to install a new program, although this is rarely a problem in small applications, but heavy tools like Microsoft Face or an Adobe software such as Photoshop and other large programs need a lot of space available to install it, so if you check this option and empty some space, that's a good thing.

Solution 4: Turn the installer on as an administrator

Thanks to Windows UAC control, your account is run only with administrator privileges when necessary, since most programs require administrator rights to install them, you'll usually see a UAC claim when you try to install a new app, but this can sometimes fail.

You may see an error that the installer cannot write to a particular folder or may refuse to run at all, in which cases the installer must run as an administrator manually, to do so close the installer dialog if it is open, then right-click on the installation file and choose to run as an administrator, after granting the rights of the administrator try to install again and see if it works.

Solution 5: Check the 64-bit architectural compatibility

The 32-bit is compatible with all architectures, while the 64-bit works only with 64-bit versions of Windows, most of the time the program will automatically choose the correct version to install it on your system when downloading, if you have a modern computer it is likely to be 64 bits, to find out, click on the computer icon on the desktop with the right button and then properties.

If you search for a specific program to download on your computer, it is preferable to access the official websites of programs and applications because of the packages and versions of the software, and the ease of downloading them, as they are safe and free of viruses, preferably when downloading, to make sure you choose the architecture that your device supports.

Solution 6: Turn on software troubleshooter and fixer

Windows 10 has many built-in troubleshooting tools that don't always work well but are worth the try when Windows doesn't install software for some reason, to access troubleshooter and fixer go to settings and then update and secure - Update & Security, right up to Troubleshoot.

Solution 7: Uninstall previous software versions

Most of the time, the app update (even if it's a new flagship version) is installed smoothly, but sometimes installing a new version of the software can cause problems when you try to install it over an older version, so to settings, then apps to access apps and features, and uninstall the current version of the software.

This shouldn't erase any of the data you've saved in the app, but you may want to back up any other settings or important information first in case, in some cases you'll need to uninstall other components to remove the entire program, for example Apple's instructions on how to completely uninstall iTunes by removing Bonjour and other programs.
